BOOK REVIEW: Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo

Genre: Young Adult / Fantasy

Page Count: 435 pages

Publication Date: June 2013

Goodreads summary:

Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land. She finds starting new is not easy while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. She can’t outrun her past or her destiny for long.

The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling’s game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her–or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.

My thoughts: Siege and storm

Siege and Storm is the second book in the Grisha Trilogy, and let me tell you, it’s just as good as the first!

Now, let’s get straight on to the good stuff. Nikolai… oh Nikolai! ♥ I dare you not to fall in love with that charming privateer prince! He’s everything you’ll ever want in a secondary character (I wouldn’t mind finding a guy like that in real life either… )

I’ve heard a lot of people saying how much they despise Mal and how they wish Alina would just forget him and move on… but I have a soft spot for that misunderstood tracker. I mean, if I was Alina I would definitely choose Nikolai, but I can totally see why she can’t let go of Mal. I’m not ashamed to say I ship Mal and Alina 😀

Siege and Storm is a little darker than Shadow and Bone, the first in the series. This book made me laugh out loud at times, and almost shed a tear (I rarely cry when reading). I’m so glad I continued on with this series!
