Consumed by guilt and rage, Celaena can’t bring herself to spill blood for the King of Adarlan. She must fight back…
The Immortal Queen will help her destroy the king – for a price. But as Celaena battles with her darkest memories and her heart breaks for a love that could never last, can she fulfil the bargain and head the almighty court of Terrasen? And who will stand with her?
Wow! Wow! Wow! Sarah J Maas does it again!
This is the third book in the Throne of Glass series and the story just keeps getting better and better! I’m in love with the characters ♥ But I’m not sure I like where things are heading towards in Celaena’s love-life arena. If you haven’t read this series yet, don’t fret, I won’t give any spoilers away! Let’s just say I want her to end up with a certain someone but I’m not sure Celaena agrees with me… That girl does what she wants, with no consideration for my feelings whatsoever. How rude! But I love her anyway 😀 I love all the characters in this series, to be honest.
I noticed a pattern here. I noticed that it takes me forever to go through any of Sarah J Maas’ books. I’m not sure why, but it forces me to read even slower than I usually do. And I know I’m not the only one. I’ve seen quite a few booktubers saying the same thing. Her books take longer than usual to read, but I’m not complaining! I want this series to last for as long as possible!
The Heir of Fire is just as engaging and action-packed as the first two books in the series. Here, we’re introduced to a whole new set of characters, who are frightening in their nature, but you can’t help but root for them (Just to be clear, not ALL new characters are as relatable as that. Some you just want to crack their skull open, Celaena-style). Now, I have to say, Rowan got some getting used to, but I sort of accept him now. He’s not as irritating as he was at the beginning.
I have to admit, and this doesn’t happen very often, but this book made me ugly cry! For real! When we find out more about Celaena’s past, and how she ended up where she is now… (sigh) The way she survived against all odds. The people who gave theirs lives to protect her, with such love. I couldn’t hold it in. The tears came rushing down my face like the river she nearly drowned on (This is not a spoiler since this is one of the first things we learn about her in the first book of the series 😀 ). I don’t have any children of my own, but I’ve always had this intense mamma-bear instinct when it comes to children. So when we got to that part, seeing all that tragedy she lived through, the mamma-bear in me came out. I wanted to hug that child and never let her go!
I’m so excited for Queen of Shadows now! Heir of Fire definitely deserves 5 hearts!
