This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab
Genre: Young Adult / Fantasy
Page Count: 427 pages
Publication Date: June 2016
Goodreads Summary:
There’s no such thing as safe.
Kate Harker wants to be as ruthless as her father. After five years and six boarding schools, she’s finally going home to prove that she can be.
August Flynn wants to be human. But he isn’t. He’s a monster, one that can steal souls with a song. He’s one of the three most powerful monsters in a city overrun with them. His own father’s secret weapon.
Their city is divided.
Their city is crumbling.
Kate and August are the only two who see both sides, the only two who could do something.
But how do you decide to be a hero or a villain when it’s hard to tell which is which?
My Thoughts:
Ok, so if we ignore the first third (?) of the story and focus this book review on the other two thirds, then I would have to say that this book is brilliant!
I have to admit, it was a bit scary (especially towards the end) but nothing that would give you nightmares.
Victoria Schwab describes This Savage Song perfectly when she said:
“Sin City PLUS Romeo and Juliet MINUS romance PLUS monsters!”
What’s not to love?!
Completely different from anything I’ve read before! The only reason why it’s not a 5-heart rating is because of the slow beginning.
I have been dying to read this book! I am actually getting ready to start it probably tomorrow. V.E Schwab became my favorite author last year after I read A Darker Shade of Magic. Her world building and writing style was prefect. Wonderful review 🙂
