A Stolen Kiss by Kelsey Keating is a cute fairytale-like story about a cursed princess, a prince, a stable boy and his half-sister, who embark on an adventure in search of the sorceress (who is also the stable boy’s mother) responsible for the princess’ unstable curse.

As far as I can gather the characters were aged between 14 and 18 but sadly they read more like 11 or 12 year olds. The way they talked, thought and behaved was a bit young for their age. The dialogue between the princess’ parents (AKA the King and Queen) was a bit unnatural and emotionless (Is that even a word? *confused*).

The magical world that Kelsey Keating created is very attractive and imaginative! I do love a good fairy tale, but the story was a bit slow at points.

It’s an easy-read book that is targeted at young teens, I’m guessing. If I were about 13 I’m sure I would have enjoyed it more, but as a young adult I’d say it deserves 2 and a half hearts.

I recommend “A Stolen Kiss” by Kelsey Keating for young readers (aged 11 to 14) who enjoy fairy tales and magic.
