Welcome back dear reader! I missed your smiling face!
Today, I think I should tell you a bit about how “Mystery Date with a Book” came to be.
As you know, I’m a soon-to-be psychology graduate (Yay!), and I’m not sure if you’re aware but in psychology we have to write A LOT of scientific reports. The most frequent feedback I got from my lecturers was that my “scientific” reports didn’t sound scientific enough. They read more like magazine articles (according to the academic world). After receiving the same feedback over and over again for almost 3 years, I decided not to fight it anymore. Instead, I embraced my non-scientific writing style and started a book-related online business and blog! It made sense to me, since I like books and blogs…
I read an article about a library in the U.S. that sold books wrapped in brown paper, so customers would have a bit of a surprise when they got home and opened it. I told my mum about this crazy idea I’d had about selling books online, but I wanted them all to be wrapped up so people wouldn’t judge the poor things by their appearance (Don’t worry, our books look amazing even when they’re “naked”!).
My mum liked the idea so much she invited herself to be my business partner. So apparently now we are a family business!
I do hope you enjoy both our online shop and blog. They were made with that special ingredient… love (cringe!)
Anyway, take a look around and make yourself at home.
